BUILT OVER 310 MILLION YEARS
With a characteristic granite landscape made up of rocks generated in the depths of the Earth, but shaped and exposed by hundreds of thousands of years of tectonic movements and climate changes, Barrocal is a refreshing oasis of Natural History. The Barrocal Park takes its visitors on a trip through nature, taking time for greater enjoyment.

THE PARK

At the Park, the paths and walkways were designed on site, adapting to the topographic and geomorphological singularities of each corner. Together with the viewpoints, they are privileged observation platforms for to contemplate and experience the Barrocal landscape, the countryside and the city, and to interpret its values and evolution over time. The Lagarto Tunnel, the Abelharucos Observatory and the Dome’s Circle become reference points, and possibilitate various activities. There is a suspension bridge that invites visitors to the São Martinho viewpoint. It is a true nature park within the city.
